Challenge

Create a fun, multi-faceted environment to build excitement and sponsor revenue among the top beauty brands using a cohesive design that appeals to attendees and sponsors alike within the ESSENCE Festival of Culture in New Orleans.

The Strategic Solution

Mark Stephen partnered with ESSENCE to create the ESSENCE Beauty Carnival. Since 2015, we have developed a bold, multi-sensory environment celebrating all things beauty set against a luxe Carnival theme. In addition to the overall conceptualization, design, and on-site management, Mark Stephen collaborated directly with many of the top beauty brands, including L’Oreal, Coty, and Revlon, to develop their activations. Using clear objectives of building awareness and social engagement while maintaining the cohesive Carnival design aesthetic, we developed and created all stage designs for beauty demos, celebrity interviews, and panel discussions. We also integrated the bold look into multiple photo-ops and exclusive exhibits, such as the history of hair care.
